Bring the file

Open one or several CSVs. PlotPeek detects comma, semicolon and tab delimiters and recognises common local, ISO and European date formats.

Keep selected category values and set numeric minimum/maximum ranges. Every analysis recalculates from the active filtered rows.

Analysis mode

Time series

Track one or many numeric variables across time, compare files, and isolate the period that matters.

Available controls
  • Choose the time column and any number of value columns
  • Build repeated series by sensor, building, scenario or another grouping column
  • Select columns from one file or every active file; search long column lists
  • Save and reuse value-column selections
  • Resample at 1, 5 or 15 minutes; 1 or 6 hours; or 1 day
  • Aggregate intervals by mean, sum, minimum, maximum or RMS
  • Smooth with rolling mean, rolling median, EMA or Gaussian windows
  • Set exact start/end dates or jump to all, last 7 days or last 30 days
  • Cap rendered points for responsive work with large files
  • Rename axes and series; set colours, solid/dashed/dotted lines and line widths
  • Move selected series to a secondary Y-axis with its own title, colour and grid
What you get

An interactive multi-series line chart with visible row count, time range, filters, hover values, zoom and pan.

Fit check

Use it when sequence and timing matter. If time order does not matter, start with Scatter or Histogram instead.

RAW data

Inspect the source table and verify the exact records behind a visual result.

Available controls
  • Choose which columns are visible
  • Sort rows without changing the imported file
  • Apply the same category and numeric filters used by analysis views
  • Keep source-file identity when several CSVs are active
  • Export the filtered records as a new CSV
What you get

A sortable table of filtered source rows, with the visible columns you choose.

Fit check

Use it to audit, filter and extract rows. PlotPeek does not aim to replace spreadsheet formulas or cell-by-cell editing.

Relationships & models

Ask how variables move together.

Start visually, add an exploratory fit when useful, or scan many relationships at once.

Analysis mode

Scatter + regression

Compare two numeric variables and see whether their relationship is linear, curved or grouped.

Available controls
  • Choose numeric X and Y columns
  • Colour points by an optional category or group column
  • Add no fit, a linear fit, or a degree-2 or degree-3 polynomial fit
  • Inspect individual points and apply shared filters before fitting
What you get

An interactive point cloud with optional fitted curve, equation, R² and sample count.

Fit check

Use it for a quick relationship check. A visual association or high R² does not establish causality.

Analysis mode

Regression Lab

Explore a polynomial model in more detail and understand the fit at a specific X value.

Available controls
  • Choose numeric X and Y columns
  • Select polynomial order from 1 through 8
  • Evaluate the fitted curve and draw its tangent at a chosen X value
  • Review equation, average X/Y, R², adjusted R², RMSE, residual standard error, MAE and correlation
  • Read predicted Y and tangent slope at the evaluation point
What you get

Observed points, fitted curve and tangent, plus a compact diagnostic panel.

Fit check

Use it for exploratory in-sample modelling. It does not provide confidence intervals, hypothesis tests or cross-validation.

Analysis mode

Correlation

Screen several numeric columns and find the variable pairs worth investigating next.

Available controls
  • Select any set of numeric columns
  • Switch between Pearson linear correlation and Spearman rank correlation
  • Inspect each pair independently after active filters
  • Move an interesting pair directly into a scatter-style investigation
What you get

A colour-coded correlation matrix with coefficient values and complete-pair counts.

Fit check

Use it as a fast relationship map. Check important cells with a scatter plot before drawing a conclusion.

Analysis mode

3D explorer

Place three numeric variables in one interactive scene when a flat projection hides the geometry.

Available controls
  • Choose numeric X, Y and Z axes
  • Render points, a connecting line, a filled area or volume bars
  • Adjust opacity and point size
  • Rotate, pan and zoom with native mouse, trackpad or touch gestures
What you get

A rotatable, zoomable and pannable 3D view of filtered X, Y and Z triples.

Fit check

Use it to discover a geometric lead, then verify the pattern in 2D or with a statistical view.

Distributions & summaries

See the shape—not only the average.

Inspect frequency, spread, outliers and robust descriptive statistics before going deeper.

Analysis mode

Histogram

Understand the shape, concentration and tails of one or several numeric variables.

Available controls
  • Select one or many numeric columns
  • Choose 5 to 200 bins
  • Normalize as count, percent, probability or density
  • Display multiple series overlaid, stacked or grouped
  • Add quartiles, Tukey whiskers and outlier context
What you get

Comparable equal-width bins across selected columns, with an optional Tukey summary.

Fit check

Use it to see distribution shape. Try more than one bin count when the apparent pattern matters.

Analysis mode

Box / violin

Compare spread and distribution shape across categories or as one overall sample.

Available controls
  • Choose a numeric value column
  • Optionally split values by a group column
  • Switch between box and violin representations
  • Show or hide individual sample points
  • See quartiles, 1.5 × IQR whiskers and graphical outliers
What you get

A Tukey box plot or Gaussian-kernel violin plot, optionally overlaid with sample points.

Fit check

Use it to compare groups and spot skew or outliers. Small samples need extra care in a violin view.

Analysis mode

Summary statistics

Run a compact numeric audit before choosing a more specific analysis.

Available controls
  • Select any set of numeric columns
  • Review valid and missing/invalid counts
  • Compare mean and median
  • Inspect P5, P25, P75 and P95 percentiles
  • See minimum, maximum and sample standard deviation
  • Recalculate every column independently after active filters
What you get

A per-column table of valid and missing values, centre, spread, percentiles and extremes.

Fit check

Use it for a first health check. Descriptive statistics do not test hypotheses or quantify sampling uncertainty.

Categories & composition

Turn groups into an ordered comparison.

Aggregate categories explicitly, rank them, or show parts of a meaningful whole.

Bar chart

Compare a numeric measure—or record count—across categories.

Available controls
  • Choose category and numeric value columns
  • Aggregate by mean, sum, median, minimum, maximum or count
  • Keep original order or sort ascending/descending
  • Apply shared filters before aggregation
What you get

An aggregated category chart that can preserve source order or rank by the result.

Fit check

Use it for category comparison and ranking. Choose the aggregation that matches the real question.

Pie / donut

Show non-negative category totals as parts of a meaningful whole.

Available controls
  • Choose label and numeric value columns
  • Show the top 2 to 50 categories
  • Switch between pie and donut
  • Group every remaining category as Other or omit it
What you get

A pie or donut using the largest categories, with an optional combined Other segment.

Fit check

Use it for composition with a small number of positive parts. Prefer Bar when precise comparison matters.
